About Lisa Holland-McNair

Lisa Holland-McNair has worked in journalism, public relations and as a writer for the past 20 years. After completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Western Australia in 1990, majoring in English and politics, she worked as a journalist at a local newspaper.

She went on to work in public affairs for the Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Authority for four years, during which time she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business majoring in public relations at Curtin University.

She moved on to the Department of Minerals and Energy for two years before leaving the government sector to join WMC Limited. During her three years at WMC Limited she provided strategic public relations advice across the gold and nickel operations in Western Australia, as well as contributing to a variety of leading edge corporate projects including the first sustainability reports to emerge in Australia.

Becoming a mother in 2001 and simultaneously facing some serious health issues, gave Lisa cause to re-evaluate priorities and decide to set up her own part-time public relations business in 2002. She has since been the sole proprietor of LHM Communications, working on a variety of projects with companies such as Rio Tinto and its business units, Alcoa of Australia, BHP Billiton, WMC Limited, Department of Environment, Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation and more. She has also branched into the area of writing non-fiction books having completed five published books and one published short story (fiction).

Lisa has branched into the area of working with the not-for-profit sector, and completed her Graduate Diploma in Not-for-Profit Leadership and Management at Notre Dame University in mid-2011.

Lisa is a member of the Australian Society of Authors and The Fellowship of Australian Writers Western Australia.
